While employed as a nanny, Sararose worked for two families over six years. The first was a family with two children based in the San Francisco Bay Area and the other was a two child family living between New York and London. She remains in close contact with both families, and enjoys visiting with the kids every chance she gets.
After retiring from full time nanny work, Sararose went to work at Citibabes in Soho, New York City, a family members club with children's classes ranging from music and art to cooking and yoga. For most of her two years there she was the General Manager, overseeing all activities and organizing events such as prenatal care workshops, book readings, parties and parenting classes. Her time at Citibabes enabled her to develop close relationships with many parents, children and nannies and to broaden her insight into the need for individualized solutions for modern families and their staff.
A love of children and a passion for quality childcare have moved Sararose to create Sidekicks. Having visited childcare facilities in Europe, Russia, Latin America and the U.S. she appreciates the universality of children's needs and the joy of providing for those needs. As a nanny and a parent she deeply understands how the two roles can forcefully complement and support each other to create a healthy, balanced home.
Amber McDiarmid is excited to join Sidekicks Staffing in its goal to unite quality childcare providers with families in the New York area. Amber is a former nanny and current full-time mother of two. She understands both the importance and potential challenges of finding 'just the right person' to take care of those you love most.
Amber, originally from rural Wisconsin, has a host of experiences and education in working with families, children and child care providers. While obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Amber worked as a Nanny for two families, giving her experiences with children at various ages and stages of development. After receiving her degree, she worked as a music teacher and band director. Furthermore, Amber worked extensively with special-needs children as a summer school teacher for children with developmental disabilities. She also worked with the parents of these children to implement behaviour management plans into their homes.
Upon moving to New York in 2005, Amber became a full-time nanny for 4 years (all with one family). Amber not only cared for the children but was also actively involved in the hiring decisions of additional staff in the home. She has an active network of nanny friends and mothers whose experiences make her a great addition to Sidekicks.
